October 27: National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Do you know about proper medication safety, storage and disposal? To help protect your loved ones, leftover or unused medications should be disposed of as soon as possible, especially drugs that can be highly addictive or have a high likelihood of harmful side effects, like opioids, depressants, and stimulants.

To dispose of prescriptions safely, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day offers everyone an opportunity to securely turn in unused or expired prescription medications. This program is offered in partnership between the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and local law enforcement agencies across the country. The next Take Back Day takes place on October 27, 2018, and participants can use the online search tool from the DEA’s website to find a collection site location near them.
