What is the Tour de Cure?

The Tour de Cure is an annual fundraising event for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). This event raises money for research, advocacy, children’s summer camps, programs and education concerning diabetes. Participants may walk, run, ride or virtually participate in the Tour de Cure event. You can help make a difference in the lives of people living with diabetes.

Each year approximately 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes. Over 34 million Americans have diabetes and another 84 million Americans have prediabetes. Many people are unaware they have prediabetes and don’t realize their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

What is changing for 2021?

The Tour de Cure will be VIRTUAL ONLY for 2021. Participants will participate at their own pace on their own route including virtual participation.

Generally, up to 40 tours are held throughout the nation and participants come together to participate. In 2021 the ADA is only having 10 virtual tours nationwide to accommodate state and federal COVID-19 recommendations. The Tour de Cure: Desert Southwest Tour will combine: Arizona, Southern California, Nevada, New Mexico, and West Texas.

There will be no registration fees or fundraising minimums for 2021. Participants are encouraged to raise $130 or more ($30 for kids 17 and under).
