Parents of Kids with Disabilities: Section 504

What is Section 504?

Section 504 is a mandatory federal statute to ensure civil rights laws and educational benefits are adhered to for kids in public schools with learning disabilities and/or ADHD. In other words, it requires the needs of students with disabilities to be met as adequately as the needs of non-disabled kids.

Unfortunately, not all schools treat Section 504 the same way. For more information on Section 504, see the article “A parent’s guide to Section 504 in public schools.”
